Therapy Intern
Sophia Coven
Hello! My name is Sophia Coven. I believe you are the expert in your own life, and I am here to work alongside you by providing guidance, support, and a safe space for growth and healing. I value building genuine connections with my clients and view the therapeutic relationship as an equal partnership, where we collaborate toward your goals while fostering confidence, healing, and authenticity. I strive to create a safe, flexible space where I meet you where you are and move at a pace that feels right for you. Overall, I aim to ensure my clients feel seen, heard, understood, and empowered to express themselves openly.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and I am currently pursuing my MSW at the University of Chicago’s Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice. I am passionate about supporting individuals as they navigate grief, life transitions, and relationship challenges.
My interest in this field is deeply personal. Growing up alongside a sibling with cognitive disabilities, I witnessed how trauma, emotional dysregulation, and unmet needs can impact both individuals and families. From a young age, I learned the importance of compassion, patience, and creating a sense of safety—values that continue to shape my approach to working with others.
I take a warm, person-centered approach to care. I recognize that each individual is unique and tailor my approach to align with what feels most comfortable and effective for each person. My work focuses on building self-awareness, strengthening coping skills, and fostering meaningful connections that support emotional well-being.
Ultimately, my goal is to help clients recognize that their current challenges and circumstances do not define them, and to support them in creating a life that feels meaningful, fulfilling, and purposeful.
