Evan Henschel

Starting therapy means creating a new path for yourself. As a therapist, I give clients a psychologically safe environment for this seminal work; one that is supportive and without judgement or shame. Trusting that you are the expert of yourself and your experiences, together we will find a path that leads to your healing and growth. To construct this path with clients, I rely on elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and internal family systems (IFS), with a primary recognition that no single approach works for all clients all the time. I also use art therapy and play therapy approaches with clients. I have experience working with youth as a therapist in Chicago Public Schools, as well as supporting emerging adults and adults at the City Colleges of Chicago. I also have experience supporting clients with mindfulness based interventions as well as twelve-step recovery work. My bachelor’s degree is in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania and my master’s in social work is from the University of Illinois Chicago. I also have a master’s degree in teaching from Columbia University, Teachers College. Facing life's challenges is a life's work. I have been privileged with a full and meaningful life and I work to help clients build their own meaningful existence. Supporting you as you walk your path is the highest and best use of myself.
