Emily Vanella

LCSW

I work with the understanding that people are complex, and all have different world experiences. I think everyone deserves to have someone in their corner to help them and cheer them on, and I would be happy to be that person for you. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am also a Certified Recovery Support Specialist with the state of Illinois. I work with adults and older teens. My background is working in Community Mental Health, crisis intervention work, as well as working with trauma survivors. I grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, got my Bachelor of Psychology degree from Iowa State University (go Cyclones!), and my Master’s in Social Work from Loyola University in Chicago. I am a proud LGBTQIA+ ally, and strong advocate for those who are marginalized and oppressed. I like to work through a harm reduction lens, this means I will work with you with an unconditional positive regard and strive to make a warm and safe space for you; a space to help you identify and achieve your goals. I use strength-based practices and motivational interviewing modality to join you though self-discovery. I am passionate about mental health and am honored to be a part of your story.
