Emily McCoy

LPC

Congratulations on taking this first step in finding a therapist – I know it is often the hardest step to take, and I already celebrate your choice to make a difference in your life!

My name is Emily, and I am an open-minded individual therapist with a goal of helping you understand your potential for living your most fulfilled life – whatever that looks like for you. I bring compassion, humor and a thoughtful pragmatism to my practice to quickly establish rapport with clients. First and foremost, I believe that a solid relationship built on trust is the most important aspect of therapy to create the comfort level needed for deeply rewarding therapeutic work. From there, everything and anything is possible.

Having worked in the corporate world for nearly a decade prior to returning to grad school at Adler University to pursue a career in mental health, I understand the importance of building (and often rebuilding!) a life full of meaning. Because of this unique professional background and my prior experience as a therapist in community mental health, I come to the therapy room understanding the importance of a tailored and specific approach that will vary from client to client. I work out of our new Hinsdale office 2 days/week, and I also have extensive experience in telehealth therapy, offering telehealth therapy 3 days/week. I will be as flexible as possible to create either an in-person or a telehealth therapy experience that works best for you.

I have experience working with all adults ranging from young, emerging adulthood all the way through senior and retirement ages. I especially enjoy working with clients who wish to work through anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship issues, and life transitions. I also have experience working with clients from all backgrounds spanning various cultures, races, genders, sexualities, lifestyles, socioeconomic backgrounds, and ages. I know that approaching big change in our lives can feel overwhelming, and I look forward to helping you realize your full potential through this process, ultimately helping you build and shape your most meaningful life.
